Clocks were once very present in the repertoire of interior designers. . Beyond their function, they belonged to the great tradition of French decorative arts, calling upon diverse expertise depending on the materials used.
The Timeless clock evokes the marble clocks that once adorned fireplaces. Both objects, having lost their function, were abandoned in modern creation.
YMER&MALTA / Valérie Maltaverne, as in each of her creations, chooses to revive in the 21st century a memory filled with nostalgia. Its name, like its function, evokes the long process of conception and production behind YMER&MALTA’s works.
For this creation, at once sculptural and refined, Valérie Maltaverne selected a bold work of marble marquetry, here executed in Diaspro. Traditional and artisanal techniques merge with contemporary technologies.
The dial and hour markers are cut from a single block of stone using a water jet.The block is then machined with a 5-axis CNC. Each detail of the assembly is then meticulously studied and hand-finished in order to achieve both beauty and perfect legibility of the time.
